Hey Guys,

I have just bought a bundle from overclockers that has the following mobo:

Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Intel X58

It has 2x 12v CPU power connectors, so therefore 8 pins, but my psu only has a 4pin or 6pin power connector.

Am I going to run in to trouble if I use the single 4pin power?

Appreciate any help in advance!

Scott

What PSU have you got.
The 6 pin would be for the GPU, do have another 4 pin floating around.

I only have the single 4 pin, and also the 6 pin.

The system seems to run fine, but the multiplier keeps dropping down to 12 and slowing down so I guess that would perhaps be due to not enough power?

Am I right in thinking the 2x4pins would give double the power?

Multi will be dropping due to intel speedstep, also known as c1e/eist, this is a power saving feature on intel cpu's, you can disable this in the bios if you want.
