Seems like the multi adapter is rated for a total of 6.5amp draw, you need to plug in 4.62amp and 2amp, which is a total of 6.62amp. You should be fine since the power supply for each won't be drawing full power all the time.

The Sat Nav adapter will almost certainly be using a switched mode converter, so the 2Amp(max) output does not translate to a 2 Amp input current. It will be closer to (2*(5/12)) / 0.8 ~ 1 Amp, assuming 80% conversion efficiency (which should be reasonable for this application).

Purchased the 8amp one in the end

It's going in a different car to what it would do normally so I need to temporarily fix it to the dashboard. Any suggestion on what to use?

The cigarette lighter splitter. The cable is very tight and there is no where to sit it properly.

My 12v socket in my Scania is rated @120W, yet my inverter is a 600w item!

A little worried about this, I asked my dealer if this was a problem and was told as long as I did not run a Microwave oven or similar from it, it would be absolutely fine!

The main point he underlined to me was that to not leave it on constantly, the socket is switched & it goes off when I switch off the ignition, I never goto bed in the truck leaving the ignition on......

Despite the above, I know of a driver with a Scania similar to mine, he has a Microwave, TV/DVD, Laptop & kettle plugged into a 4into1 adapter into his 1500W inverter, yes, running from the 120W 12V socket! - I also know of a guy with a desktop PC setup in his cab(!) - neither have not gone up in flames - yet!!!

I now have an adaptor in it, so my laptop & 'phone charger can be used at the same time.

Thats 600W output. You could invert 600W from a AA battery (just not for very long)

Add up the wattage of the AC items being used and make sure you don't go over 600. So don't boil the kettle with the microwave on whilst running IntelBurnTest As the dude said keep it clear and in a ventilated place and you won't go wrong. It'll just trip out the fuse if you do so.
