Hello People

I have £1300 to spend on Lcd screen or plasma , please can you give me any advice

I am looking for 40 - 42 inch screen , must be 1080P with max of 3 HDMI

Looking at Sony or Panasonic Viera range and also display 24p cinema

Panasonic TH42PZ70 or 700. Should be able to get within your budget, true 1920x1080 progressive with 24p cinema support. Extremly good looking TV, a great centrepiece for an AV system.

However if your going to be a heavy 'gamer' rather than a more pure AV/Movie/TV system then an LCD will reduce the risk of screen burn... Plasma's have improved considerably over the last couple of years... but it is still a potential issue if your a hardcore gamer.

I use my Dell 24inch LCD for gaming, and my Panny Plasma is only used for TV, and Movies. I wouldnt change my AV system to LCD, I simply feel that plasma gives a more 'natural' less artificial picture than even the best LCD panels. CRT is better still but is too bulky and impossible to get in larger sizes, and I wanted a more cinematic display.

What is it going to be used for ?

Options are really :

Panasonic 42" PZ70 plasma
Sony 40" W3000 LCD
Samsung 40/46" F86 LCD ( Both of those screen sizes are within budget )
Toshiba 42" Z series

And, if you are willing to add a little to the budget :

Pioneer 42" 428 plasma

Will be the best for films/SD.

Depends what you want it for though.

I might go for Panasonic 42" PZ70 plasma or Sony 40" W2000

Which 1 , advice please , will be playing blu ray films & hd dvd
