Hi all,

Ive tried to bump an older thread for this but failed.

Basically, I've been hankering over the 1 series since god knows when. I know the LCI version of the 5 door came in during 2007.

Is there anything physically different about the two? I know that the dynamics stuff came in during that change, and general build quality improved (going by what Fox tells us), but is there any body work changes? Ive been looking at pics on autotrader but can't seem to spot anything when it comes to M Sport trim levels.

I had a gander on Honest John to see what they said was different, and they mentioned a change to the bump (not sure if front or back), but I can't spot it.

On the second hand market, the pre LCI ones look to be coming up at 2~3k cheaper, however that might be down to millage being that post LCI are obviously newer.

Is it really worth getting an LCI model over the older one, apart from the savings made when it comes to tax??

get a 135i.

Really if I cant find the cash to get my self a 911 at some point soon, I will get a 135i such fun little cars and not too expensive for what they are.

I still have wet dreams about a good 997 lol :D

AFAIK the front bumper spot lights are round on the pre-LCI and oblong on the LCI

Rear light clusters are also different.
Hmm, not sure about that with the front bumper lights on M-Sport editions. They look the same, however I have just looked at the rear cluster, and the clear section of it is definitely thinner on the LCI models.

Thanks

Ive been looking for some time and the early search results that gave good results, are coming up with the same old matches now.

Im thinking I might look at the 3 series. Is the same engine from the 130 (LCI) used in the 3 series as well?

the 130i uses the n52 and I think some of the earlier e90s had the same engine but the 3 series got the n53 sometime in 2007 while the 130 kept the n52

I'm sure fox will correct me if I'm wrong ;)

The quality of the interior improved with the LCI. It's still a bit ****, but nowhere near as bad as the first gen.

Oh my god, I am really getting bored of waiting for an early LCI to come up that doesnt cost the earth (~13k max). When I first started thinking about this, I saw a couple of examples (one of which was with a BMW approved garage) at around this price. I didn't really have the money together, and it went after a couple of weeks.

Now nothing is coming up!

Im wondering if I should start looking at other cars, or sack of the LCI and go pre facelift!?

What else should I maybe consider instead of 130i?
