the other day I asked in a post about the 5800x as a new build idea for me (upgrade)

anyways now I’m thinking do I even go am4 and just go intel and grab a 13600k
I’ve been looking and it seems the better choice all around ?
I do like amd and never had a problem in my latest builds for me my son and dad,

but to cut the story short.
im now sitting on around £750 to drop on a mb ram cpu and hoping this will not need upgrading for
a good few years
for this money am I right in thinking the 13600k will be best bang for buck?
If so whats people using for motherboard and quick ram ddr5,
or scrap the idea altogether and go am5 lol it’s nightmare!!
this is what’s making it a hard decision

There's some good discounts on AM4 right now, so it's not a bad choice and you need something like a 4090 to really notice much of a bottleneck with e.g. a 5600X or 5800X. The 5800X3D is still competitive in games with the highest-end AM5/1700 CPUs.

The question is if you want to buy into an old platform, that's the main issue with AM4.

The 13600K is the best value 13th gen CPU and performs really well in games, but as far as we know, the platform is dead too. You can buy Z690/B660 motherboards (best if they have BIOS flashback), which can help make it more price competitive against AM5.

I see buying a 7600X/7700X as buying into a platform that you hope to have decent upgradeable CPUs for 4 - 5 years, but if you don't plan to upgrade for awhile then the 13600K is fine. FYI: the 13600K is a lot stronger (due to the 8 E-cores) in productivity than the 7600X, but not the 7700X.

From what I've seen in games, you can pretty much buy whatever RAM you want, so I'd be looking to spend around £200 or less for 32GB, preferably on the QVL of your board.

Look out for good deals around black friday , 5600x with B550 and DDR4 is superb value and 13600k with DDR5 is great performance but may struggle to get that type of build into your budget.

Hard to go wrong with so many good options.

So gonna pull the trigger.
13600k
Gigabyte Z690 GAMING X, Intel Z690, S 1700, DDR5 possibly unless anyone can point me out something better?
also had some ram in my basket but seems to have gone out of stock. So open to any ideas on this also.

You already have an AM4 board, so why aren't you just dropping in a 5800X3D, or lower, to make the most of your 3060 Ti?

Well I suppose if you are getting £250 plus for your board/CPU/RAM then it makes sense, but any less than that then is doesn't IMO.
sold for a good price as a complete pc. That way I made max profit on it,
wasn’t going to at first I was gonna split.
thats why now I’m going for a complete new build what should last me a good few years and not really break the bank
