Evening all,

Looking to upgrade my current PC
i7 13700k, DDR5 6400 C36 2x16GB G SKILL, MSI Suprim x 3090ti.
Seems like yesterday I built it but its already

Mainly used for gaming and light work. Competitive fps is my go to.. Ideally looking to get a new 50 series if and when they become available or try and pick up a 4090, would moving over to AM5 platform be a worthy upgrade? Out of the loop a little at the moment.

Can you define "competitive FPS" please? What do you mean by competitive?

If you mean: "is it a good idea to buy a new CPU and motherboard because my CPU is outdated": no, that's a bad idea.

If you mean: "will I get more FPS than people I'm playing against", yeah, there's room for that.
 
A 9800x3d is likely to give you more FPS

As to either spending £600 + to achieve that is worth a few extra frames only really you can decide
