I think £140 is a bit low...

You can get an e2140 for £42 and RAM for £36 so total £80

That only leaves £60 for a mobo.... I think your gonna have to stretch just a little bit further to get a decent mobo that can OC as much as you can with water ;)

Get the Gigabyte p31 board, check some reviews out (does 425+ FSB with dual core CPUs), 2GB OcUK DDR2 800mhz and a 2180 cpu. The limiting factor will be how well the chip clocks, if it's a good clocker you're good for 4ghz :)

Comes to £145. I would post the exact spec but whenever I go to spec something the damn OcUK site dies on me :/

gotta bit of a noobie question does is the speed of the FSB important at all. so for example:

-an e6750 with 1333mhz fsb @3ghz
-an e2180 with 800mhz fsb @3ghz

would these two processors perform the same or would the speed of the fsb have any effect?

tehehehehe :)

is there a "stepping" or batch number i should be looking out for ?

Just keep an eye on the B grade section. I've got an E6600 Gigabyte DS4-P35 and 2Gb PC6400 Ballistix for just a little more than what you've got. If your impatient it'll cost you a lot more.

well at that overclock you would probably already have the FSB (of the e2180) near or above 1333mhz, but the e6750 does have a fairly bigger cache size...
