£1400 budget Gaming PC advice

How so mate ? Set to drop a lot?

The B450 chipset is being released for AMD Ryzen. If you are going with Intel though then it won't apply to you.

On the other hand if you decided to go with an R5 2600/X then that cpu would slot right in without the need of a bios update. The current B350 chipset needs an up to date bios for R5/R7 2xxx cpu's.

Think I'd go better than a 2700X over 2600. Not sure where to go with a card to compete with a 1080ti though...

Nope, 1080ti still top dog at moment .
Just depends on overall budget, what you want it to drive and how long you intend it to last etc long with amount of game time you play

I think ideally then, because I do want a 1080ti, I also need a better Intel CPU to give it more longevity in tandem with that. I'd rather do that than go AMD with worse performance but easier ability to upgrade in the future I think.

CPU outlast GPU easily ! people still rocking 2ng gen i7 with 1080/80ti's. all depends on what monitor your using . gaming at 4k or ultra wide 1440p and you wont see much different between 8700k and 2700x bar the price and heat. 1080P and low res VR then Intel pulls ahead with its IPC and clock speed.

Just the fact 9*** cores are inbound this year , make it hard to swallow intel K chips and Z370 boards. H370/B360/H310 are different full coffeelake chips, z370 is a half measure (different manufacturing node size and design)

Wow ok I see. Can't seem to find any prebuilt systems on PCUK for an 8700, b360 and a 1080ti so might have to compile from scratch...

slap a list together- dont have to use their config and drop CS a message with link to thread or call, should be able to tell you how much to build basically or more advanced with cable management etc . B360 and non K is just plug and play :D

Maybe swap that card for another brand - just personal preference and the software they use etc but other than that looks sweet. That case definitely the best (for the money ) at cooling ?
