my question is pretty simple what connection should i use to get the full 144hz? i have HDMI, DVI and display port

You have made me feel bad now

It will refresh at 144hz no matter what input you use unless you tell it otherwise.
Im not sure about hdmi acctually, your best bet is dvi if the resolution is 1920x1080

This is not true.

HDMI 1.4b supports 1080p up to 120Hz. Single-link DVI only supports up to 60Hz refresh rate.

You need to use dual-link DVI-D/DVI-I or DisplayPort, there shouldn't be any difference in quality between them though.

You generally need to use DVI or DP with 120Hz monitors.
HDMI usually won't support 120Hz at 1080p (exceptions), so you will need to use a DVI cable.
That said, I'd like to mention this, just in case this rock hasn't been turned yet:

Common problem:

Often, a graphics card has two DVI ports.
Sometimes one is single-link and the other is dual-link.
You're only able to run at 60Hz in Control Panel.

The Fix:

Plug your DVI cable into a different port on your computer graphics card.
Voila! You're no longer limited to 60Hz in Control Panel.
