15,000 Layers Photoshop Image...

*yawn* thats seems like a big waste of time to me...
Why so? Surely you've got to admire the skill and effort that has been put into such an amazing piece of work, even if you don't actually like the subject.

i think it says those layers are split between a lot of different photoshop images which are glued together

i count about 300 layers in the actual finished image

im not that impressed by CG art if im honest. not saying i dont appreciate it but the amount of time that guy spent and its an incrediably dull image.....

i would lose the will to live on a project like that, but then im not the patient long-term task planning type of person. damn i even find resizing and sharpening images a bore!

that guy is good, i learnt a lot in photoshop from following his lynda.com training tutorial. was awesome, that image is stunning.

Not stunning, but boring.
An amazing amount of work and dedication went into it and the craftwork (not "art" by the way) is impressive.
But at the end of the day, it begs the question "wouldn't a photograph be easier, with the same result?" .

I'm missing something here, why is he charging $2200 for a picture of a hotel sign?????
And more to the point, who would pay it?

I find it hard to be impressed by anything where someone has clearly spent a vast amount of time and effort making up for the fact they are applying the wrong tool for the job.

The means doesn't justify the end result, which is after all, a pretty bland picture of a station and some buildings.

If he'd produced an astounding work of art, then I'd be impressed. But what's the point in saying, I can paint something boring that looks kind of like a photo, it'll just take me 12 weeks!

My thoughts exactly.
