I find it hard to be impressed by anything where someone has clearly spent a vast amount of time and effort making up for the fact they are applying the wrong tool for the job.

The means doesn't justify the end result, which is after all, a pretty bland picture of a station and some buildings.

If he'd produced an astounding work of art, then I'd be impressed. But what's the point in saying, I can paint something boring that looks kind of like a photo, it'll just take me 12 weeks!

yup this is what i was trying to say too. its all good saying he's great because he clearly has put a lot into this project but the means dont justify the end

Why is it when ever people do things that are contravetial there is so much hate for those people, think about it, when an artist paints the canvas they are putting extrodinary detail down, this guy is painting with digital tools and is also butting in that same detail so why isnt his work art? its creative! and I like it.

I think his skill isn't in question, its his choice of locations. Imagine if it was just a photo. It would be a dull photo. Its meant to be photorealistic so judge it as a photo. Someone with that sort of skill shouldn't be producing dull photorealistic images imho.

If he'd painted it with his own eye lashes I'd probably still lay into it, the end results is just not an interesting image. :)
