15 mins of red alert 3

Argh...

After playing supreme commander all these games seem FAR too zoomed in :p

I tried to play DoW again the other day, but couldn't help but feel that I was playing it through a magnifying glass. I loved the previous RA games though, so I'm sure I'll get over it and buy the game.

Almost done with the vid:

+ Nice overall gfx ( too cartoonish for my liking, but still not rubbish,)
+ Original RA2 sound
+ More or less the same style for allies/soviets, eg. dradnaughts&tesla for soviet, AC for allies.
+ Naval building

- bit cartoony/dumbed down
- ore : Lame, reminds me of generals, maximum gathering speed now per field unlike in cnc3 and RA2:(.
- The red glow around your selection
- the person that is telling stuff is stupid, he gets attacked a few times and ''god these allies are persistant'' what a noob, unless he's acting for all those little kids out there. Also '' spitrited resistance'', a few tanks ? and ''that's a load of tesla troopers'' ( just 16 I think?).
I attack with over 50 units in RA2 sometimes, in mp even more, had a like 200 vs 200 battle quite a few times.

EDIT, wth is the empire of the rising sun?

yeah sounded like he was talking to a group of teens the way he spoke...not keen on the graphics or the removal of ore fields. hopefully the gameplay will be fun

Some of the graphics look odd, others look amazing (OMG the water!).

Also I want ore fields back as well, I don't like the switch.

But it does look better than C&C3. I'll almost certainly be picking this up.

Did anyone also notice the only 8directions of movement in that? That along with the grid base building should fix cnc3 problems a fair bit. Looks hilarious and fun and the seeming large selection of units will make it last longer i hope. Yes ore fields thing sucks.

I haven't seen it yet but was wondering what you guys are talking about regarding the ore fields?

I have played all the games and can't say that I have noticed anything different about them over the C&C series, but it is very late and my brain has stopped working :p

There is no ore field as such anymore, just a depot full of gold ore and one harvester at a time goes to the field, gets the cash, then drives back to the refinary. It's a similar concept to what generals did, just it looks worse... and dare i say it, dumbed down for the console. Then they didn't show what the resources in the water looked like.

Everything else looks good though. I suspect there will be an option to turn off unit highlights as well.

now its like a little yellow block where you build your refinery close to and 1 harverster will harvest.
no depleting ore fields....no big or small ore fields...no expensive ore fields
ore fields are no more

Ore mining was a key part of what defined RA :(

RA:C&C will never be beaten, the best RA ever. this no.3 looks rubbish tbh!

edit: the ability to build on water is the only redeeming feature for this game, everything else: pap. might get it once it comes down to a tenner, but not before.

Looks a bit naff, seems to be a lot of pop in as you move about shadows in particular, the ground aspect looks the same as RA2 while the water looks good. Sounds have been directly ported over from RA2.

meh/10.

Not only does it look bad, but its infantile gameplay bored me to tears just watching it out of the corner of my eye whilst stargate was on... must be a bit /wrist to actually have to play that tripe. I don't think I have seen a series of games featuring so little innovation before, Westwoods turning in his grave.

Downloading the video at the moment - I'm still looking forward to this game, probably only because I hope it rekindles some of that childhood awesomeness that RA1 gave me :D
