15 year old army cadet attacked with a makeshift blow torch.

An alarming number of Al-Queda/Islamic State members have been qualified doctors, engineers, and accountants.

That makes them educated not necessarily intelligent!

And as for the relevance in The Telegraph we have this story:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...er-being-hit-by-ice-hockey-puck-at-match.html

Would that have made the papers in this country if it were not in Dunkirk. I doubt it they will lever in any topical angle they can. Which is why this story is quite news-worthy.

This. It's speculation until known.

But as for the 'minor' crime, would shooting at someone and missing be classed as minor just because they've escaped without injury?

How many times have you seen an article in a major national paper detailing the above?

I don't remember ever seeing an article stating "Man shot at in Manchester, minor injury" on the BBC front page. Do you?

Unless the person being shot at was prominent/famous it wouldn't be reported. Let alone the fact this wasn't a gun, it was a guy with a can of Lynx and a lighter...

I am pretty sure we all know why he did it. He will most likely be poorly achieving in life/school/college, from a lower socio-economic group, mixed up in the wrong crowd and highly susceptible to whatever twaddle he has been told. Like the rest of the idiots that do such things. He did it because he was too stupid to question why one would do such a thing.

Indeed.

Probably true but a lot of jihadis are intelligent and well-educations. An alarming number of Al-Queda/Islamic State members have been qualified doctors, engineers, and accountants. You can't dismiss the current global jihadi phenomenon as a consequence of ignorance and poverty.

Hope the guy who was attacked is OK and they catch the perp fast. I'd also hope that the perp gets an appropriate sentence but this is Britain so he'll be let off with a slap on the wrist.

So we have jumped from the offender being described as black/asian to him being a jihadi doctor/engineer/accountant (perhaps all three) attempting to create a global caliphate by attacking 15 year old boys at bus stops...

You see the story about the guy attacked with a make shift lance? Skewered his arm.

To be fair it was a straightened out paper clip, but you know. Selling stories and all

Does the fact that the boy was a cadet and the attacker was black/Asian bare any relevance? Or would it not make national news if it was an asbo teen and a white attacker?

The more pressing question is: would it have made its way to GD if the attacker were not of non-white extraction?

Going on Oldcoals' thread history, I would suggest not.

Anyway, not a nice event, but I'm sure there was a lot more bad stuff happening today to get worked up over; more so than such minor injuries. Albeit with an eye-catching weapon.

the guy in this story is described as being under the influence of alcohol yet people are talking about jihadis...

I know the typical Islamic terrorist has some different interpretations to the average British Muslim but I'm pretty sure drinking alcohol isn't something they tend to be into

Attacking a kid, who was in uniform, selling poppies which is kind of relevant which kind of makes it news worthy. Context is a very big thing and this story has it in spades.

He was waiting for the bus at the time wasn't he? Not selling poppies.

Just sounds like a local **** head.

This is exactly what the OP intended by creating this thread.
Thinks we're all stupid
