Hey,

I know this is a forum for the more hard core photographers but I've got a few events coming up this year I want to take pictures of, including nights out, birthdays, a dive trip to Thailand and my graduation.

I do have a digital camera but it's two years old and isn't the best at managing light. It always seems to have the flash on and the whole picture becomes white washed. It's a Olympus FE-220 7.1MP.

So, anyone got a good around camera for £150?

Thanks :)

You want a compact or bridge?

Compact basically any Canon IXUS in your range should be fine. Panasonic Lumix are good too.

Compact. My dad is the big photographer so anything that requires a high end camera he can take pictures of.

The three I've been looking at is Nikon CoolPix S550, Canon Digital IXUS 85 IS, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS5 or FS20 if my budget can stretch to it and the extra price is worth it.

Fuji Finepix S1000fd

# New Fujinon 12x Optical Zoom (33mm-396mm equivalent)
# 2.7” LCD w/ 230k pixel resolution + electronic viewfinder
# Face Detection with Auto Red-Eye Removal
# Fujifilm’s Picture Stabilization powered by high ISO
# High Sensitivity ISO1600 at full resolution
# Convenient mode dial + 13 shooting modes
# Full Manual controls for advanced photography
# New Panoramic Shooting stitches up to 3 shots together seamlessly
# xD / SD / SD-HC Media Compatible Slot

You can get a refurb straight from the manufacturer for £86

Or google, prices from around £110

Lots of features :)

I've always perferred Canons (had A60 now A540), although I've been using my s5700 quite a bit for the 10x zoom and manual controls). The pic quality is best on the Canon.

Just got a nice surprised when I called my dad. He's lending me his Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS20 because he says he likes his Canon IXUS 50 better.
