£150 for A Graphics Card That Can Play Most Games

u sure? i looked at the core clock and it was 625Mhz or something, with those two cards i can overclock to over 1ghz

LOL, you have a lot to learn, it's not all to do with clock speed :p

Have a look here for a comparison between the 6870 and GTX 470

The non Ti version of the GTX 560 is even slower than the 6870 ;)

and oh yea, im a newb on graphics cards :D

My friend, one thing you should learn about GPU and CPU is that directly comparing the GHz don't mean much, as a lower GHz on a faster GPU/CPU can actually be faster than a higher GHz on a slower GPU/CPU.

Also, for GPU with higher default GHz just mean it has less headroom for overclocking, whereas a GPU with lower GHz usually has being overclocking headroom. For example, the 6870 overclock from 900MHz to 1,000MHz is only roughly 11% overclock, whereas the GTX560Ti overclocking from 810MHz to 1,000MHz is 23.5% overclock, and the GTX470 overclocking from 625MHz to 850MHz is 36% overclock. So basically, in terms of overclocking, the 6870 has the least gain in performance.

(P.S. The figures overclock figures I quoted for each of the cards above is the typical achievable/max overclock).

Yes they use a lot of power, you have to decide what you want though? More frames per second in games or a more eco-friendly card but not as good performance!

As for BF3, I'm using a GTX 480 (the 470 can easily clock to 480 performance)and can play it with most things on ultra @ 1920x1200 with good fps :)

What monitor will you be using btw?

right now im on 1280x768 but im going to move onto to 1920 x 1080. oh and how to you overclock a GTX 470?

ok then, thank you very much, this has been a very long conversation and i now plan on buying a GTX 470 and overclocking it. Coupe69, i might pm you in a week or so, asking you exactly what to change to. :D thanks

I'm hoping you'll be buying that PSU (or better) as well?

Also make sure you download the latest beta driver from the Nvidia site if you're planning on playing BF3.
