£150 phone O2 / unclocked(able)

For my brother for his birthday, no need to go into specific requirements, basically what's the best Android for around that price? Monte Carlo? Wildfire S?

sony ericsson xperia play i guess..

you will need to hunt around and pay for unlock.

xperia plays are too big and freeze a lot.

I'd go for the wildfire S, think its around £120 on a prepay upgrade in CPW, of course it will be unlocked.

Larger than some handsets, well - deeper - but I can't say I have ever experienced any freezing ?? Admittedly, late to the party having only picked mine up a few weeks back, but it is notably slicker than the Desire it replaced and - now on 2.3.4. - a really fine phone.
For ~£150, there is no better spec phone available IMHO, although you might need to hunt for one at that price....

exactly.. no other phone matches xperia play for that price

You must be lucky! come into work all the time, usually though it is just your average chav with facebook running 24/7 along with a lot of other crappy apps for free justin beiber wallpapers lol

I have 243 apps installed, per Titanium Backup's reckoning, and a fair few widgets. Whole thing is pretty smooth, very occasional lag perhaps, but arguably slicker than my Desire was.

Really is no competition at this price point, I feel, let alone all the gaming potential also (if that's your thing) :cool:

EDIT : Also worth considering that the Play *will* get ICS, as confirmed by SE

Just ordered my Play off Play

£199.99 couldn't find any at £150 but that might just be lack of searching on my part, just need to get the girlfriend one for Xmas and I'm sorted

low res screen.. poopy cpu.. for that i'd say orange monte carlo or san francisco(wait for sf2 a few days?! or is it out already?) and get one of those both are easy to unlock as far as i know!
