what is best card o replace the 8800gt for around £150?

gaming at 1680x1050 at the mo possible 1980x1080 soon
I like at least 2*aa and I love AF

if you wanna stay with Nvida for some reason get a GTX275, even a GTX260 would do the job.

or you could get the XFX HD4890XT and have some beer money :D

Keep the Gt and wait for the new round of graphics cards. At the very least it'll mean you can get something a bit cheaper. An 8800gt isn't exactly bad for 1680x1050 resolution though - I doubt you have problems running most games (e.g. not crysis) at 2xAA

Yeah but will the new cards comming out be 150quid? .....take the 4890 xt great card for the money...

I just moved from an 8800GT to a 4890

Big increase, it can handle much more. I have a lot of respect for the 8800GT, lasted well, but things like Arma 2 and Crysis handle much much better on the 4890

I hightly dealt that more like over 200...300 for Nvida as normal -.- I m only guessing through

I'm not so sure

its not happened in the past

the ATI cards are already at "close-out" prices - and I doubt they'd be sold much lower

stock will just dwindle ..... and no new stock will be available

I'd wager a 4890 under say 120 is very unlikely - you just won't be able to buy one

MArk.

Of course they won't be.

The idea is that the new cards will reduce the price of the current cards.

well the HD4890 is nothing new its just a inproved version of the HD4870 so ATI hasen't changed much on it spet for its ablity to overclock

You might be right there. I guess time will tell (which won't help the OP, of course) :)

I for one am ordering a 4890 tomorrow

reason being - what the new ATI cards will be out in say October ? they're not going to be stupidly cheap as we're being lead to believe that the Nvidia cards won't be out at same time. That said - ATI will want to win a decent market share.

I'd guess the 4890 equivalent will be about £250-£270 (just guessing) - and availability not that great

so ifI didn't get a 4890 now - I'd have to wait till end of the year - really
