£1500 - £2000 to spend - Help Needed

UPDATE 2

Insurance for said car is £363 Fully comp from elephant - not to bad either.

How does that compare or can someone suggest anyone else?

That's more than I'd expect tbh, looking at your profile you're 39.

I'm 21 with 4 years NCD, and to insure my 2001 Astra 1.6 16V I was looking at paying £420 fully comp. Even if you've got 0 NCD, I would have thought it'd be a bit lower than that.

Try a few price comparison sites if you've not already:

Edit: Just thought, my policy was with a £500 excess, if you have a lower excess then your premium may be higher for that reason.

The Focus fails, its such bad value for money. You paid a few hundred quid less than I paid for a Mondeo of the same age with far, far higher specification...

...FIVE YEARS AGO!!

Remember mate not everyone has the time, inclination or leet car sniffer blood hound skilz to spend months looking or trek half way round the country for a car. 2k for a low mileage 1 owner focus is good enough. For the sake of a couple of hundred quid and ease of purchase its probably a good buy.
Besides the ops list of requirements were pretty basic and the focus delivers on them 100%

Maybe he couldn't find one he liked at that price? I could have got a mk2 mondeo ghia for the same money as I paid for the Fiesta, doesn't make it automatically bad value for money. The earlier mk3 mondeos are starting to age quite badly now while the mk1 focus doesn't show it's age that much.

as fox says its not the best value for money, for the same age/spec in mondeo form, probs would have cost £600 - £999 :P

as long as your happy with it thats the main thing!

Spot on - I really did not want to take the risk of flying around half a dozen garages or the local private used market as, I've said before, I know relatively nowt about buying 2nd hand cars and tbh might have just got ripped off. The car I've got has come from a garage where I personally know the owner's wife and feel that I have a bit of trust there.

The fact its low mileage is rather made utterly irrelevant by the fact its 9 years old though, do you not think?

Is there something wrong with a car 9 years old? I see a lot of really nice cars older that that, All I wanted was something that was decent looking, economical, and relative cheap for parts and insurance.

as long as your happy with it that's the main thing!

I am !

Pic's will come later in week once I have picked up car.
