ok after thinking it through and finally getting news on when my funds will become available i've put together a basket.

as its a first build i would just like confirmation that I havent ommited anything Im going to need and that there will not be any conflicts (as far as possible) with the hardware chosen.

also I know for the money I could go i7 etc but for the little bit of video encoding I do its not worth the extra. Main uses will be gaming and so I went for the AMD

could also have I5, which will be a little faster than AMD clock for clock ( and more expesnive) it however won't be much better at gaming if any at all but that litte decoding will be a bit faster, its up to you at the end of the day.

could get a HD5870 ?

also you could get a samsung 1TB for about the same price as the 500Gb one you speced

yeah like i say its very little encoding that I do, maybe one or two 800mb files a month which aint worth paying the premium for imo :)

I5 wouldnt be that much more? Uses less power too?

did think about the 5870 but ill stick with the 5850 for now and x-fire later if needed :)
a 1TB samsung f3 for the same price as the 500gb? £40 and £65 as far as I can see. I have a 1TB WD green i can put in from my broken pc if its required :)

fair does, looks good overwise

and I didn't say I 5 uses less power than AMD I couldn't really care less tbh to a extent, as it normally falls on the mobo

I think you are better off with this;

Much better value for your gaming needs. The g19 keybaord isn't worth the money and the g15 is just as good. I've got with the Corsair psu as they are rock solid psu's that have a 7 year warrenty. Also, the monitor I have chosen does a better aspect ratio compared to 16:9 which is also better for the gaming requirments.

in a side by side comparison i5 vs amd playing same game with same system specs whats the real difference? a few frames here and there? I can live with that

I have 2 g15s already yeah they are good just really fancy the 19 :D

the antec cp850 is (according to reviews I read) on par with the signature psu's so thats what swayed it for me

the monitor i chose is a stop gap untill i can afford an eyefinity setup and will then be passed down to she who must be obeyed for her pc and she really likes the look of it so non flexible there :p

thanks for taking the time to spec one up tho, its appreciated, as are all the other comments.

Ok dude, I ain't bein funny like mate but you asked for us to help you with your build, see what we can change for you and you don't consider it? Btw, don't beleive everything you read on the internet :D

The G19 is a waste of cash tbh, money is needed elsewhere in your build. Thanks, ben :D

the help is appreciated and ya points were taken onboard, cant shift on the monitor atm as I got to keep the mrs happy :D

ok so if i recycle one of my g15's thats 130 quid saved.

what benefits am I going to see in gaming with an i5 over the amd? if i got an i5 it would be the pre overclocked bundle as I dont fancy messing with that side of things my self, so for the extra £50 over the phenom what real world difference will I see. I wont be benchmarking as thats not my thing :D

Wasn't havin a good at you mate just saying :D Keep your monitor and keep the mrs happy :p

Glad you can use one of the g15's, g19's waste of cash. IMO, I prefer intel over amd, always have done. Run cooler and give ebtter performance mate :D
You wouldnt need the extension either :D

Yep :D That would be fine for 5850 xfire.

BTW!!! I was thinking about the 8 pin for the gpu for some reason lol. Yeah, if you plan to run teh 8 pin cpu around the back of the mobo, you will need the 8pin extension :D

ok after being reassured that overclocking isnt as hard as it sounds ive picked this
unless theres anything glaringly wrong then it will be final spec and ill stop bugging you all :p

Looks pretty good. You could upgrade to an i7 860 and still be ~£1500. Also, is there any particular reason you've chosen XFX? They are much more expensive than the Sapphire/Club3D versions, and I think Club3D cards come with the same sort of premium warranty agreement with OcUk.
