£1500 system

hi everyone:)

Finally, after 1 year of wanting to upgrade my pc i managed to get some money on the side to create my ultimate dream pc :D:D

So, in total i have £1500 (possibly £1600 if really needed) and with that i need the whole pc + screen.

I have been looking around at various forums and shops and already decided on a a few components recommended by most people.

CPU: Q6600
Mobo: gygabyte P35 D3r
Power: corsair 620W
Screen : DEll 24"
Ram : 2 * 2 (1GB) crusial balistic 6400? (not sure this is the best option)
cooling : tuniq 120
hard disk: western digital caviar 500GB 7100.10
Graphic : 1 8800GTx or ultra??

Okay, so this are my ideas for now, but i m not very good at choosing components that would work very well together so i would greatly apreciate any help that anyone could give me:)

Welcome to the forums.

Looks like a very nice setup, however I wouldnt go for the GTX Ultra as it is quite a price hike for a small increase in clock speed. Best to go for the basic GTX as it is fine for all games at the moment and will do you for quite some time I would have thought.

Hope this helps, all the other specs look fine, as that chipset on the mobo will enable you to use the next gen of CPUs when they come out.
 
Here you go:

It's got 4 GiB RAM, a quad core proc, the best PSU, the best case, a great sound card, the best video card value, the best CPU cooler, and the best 500 GiB HDD.

If you need other peripherals use the remaining money and purchase Vista Home Premium, a keyboard, and a mouse.

Yes, i do require vista 64 bit too (for the 4gb), not sure whether the home or ultimate one?
Also, i heard the dell 24" was the best screen, is this samsung as good or would it be better to get dell??

Its quite a bit over my budget but i couldnt bring myself to take anything out of it.
Does everyone agree with my decision here, or am i doing any wrong choices??:confused:

Looks great. You'll be real happy with it. :D

If you wanted to save a measly few quid you could hold off on the AS5 since the heatsink will come with some compound preapplied. Also, the AAKS HDD I specified above is faster than the 7200.10 you have included.
EDIT: Though I don't suppose it's worth £10. It's just fine as you have it. :o
