Some people may think this is a wind up but ive come into a lot of money and i have decided to buy myself a nice car after paying off all of my debts of over 20k. I used to have a Golf GTI MkV but a COW(Bull) took a disliking to me and it got written off :( I had to buy a Astra due to losing money from the crash and it was more efficient as i started a new job and would be doing lots of miles.

If nobody believes that i have the money, leave the thread. Thanks.

So anyway! I have a MAX of 150k to spend on a car, what do i do? :D

At first thought, i was like Golf R32!!!! LOL but i want something a little more "special".

Want something with 2 doors, doesnt have to be lightning fast.

Hope someone can help! I will have the hovis at ready when it gets delivered, promise!

Cheers,
Jay

Listen, i dont want "life" advice, i just posted for some advice on a car to buy, if i wanted to buy another house i would but i dont to buy 2 houses. I've read before about someone buying a Porshe 911, think it was Spie. Maybe you pick on people that arent "Dons".

For negative people, please read the OP.

LOL, Maybe you misread my OP? I said MAX 150k. I didnt say I HAVE TO SPEND 150K OR I WILL FEEL INDAQUEATE(Spelling?). Jesus, relax! Im not a car enthuastist but i do like nice cars like some Porsche/Aston Martin/Lambo etc. Stop being so evil!

OMG, I seriously regret asking for advice in this forum. What the **** is wrong with some of you? Im not trying to gloat, i dont need to. Anyway, all i was asking for is advice with a max budget of 150k, other threads say the same, just because its a bigger amount doesnt make me any different to the rest? Does it?

Thanks to the people that are giving me ideas. Much appreciated.

Dont need a family car. I just want a nice 2 door, sporty car but not too sporty with the horrible seats and mahoosive spoilers etc. I quite like the DBS, checked on piston heads they have one for about 152k and above. I dont know!

I didnt state that i wanted to buy a 150K car, i would be happy with a 50, 60k car if i like it.....I was just asking for ideas and what you would do. Nice comment about investing it! LOL.

Fox, please tell me why i made such a mistake posting in this forum? I dont see anything wrong with it? Just because i have a large budget doesnt make me a liar?

Just a quick question, no numbers are required just a yes/no - is the total amount of money you've come into significantly more than 150k? As in, many times more?

Whats the point in replying to that because you wont believe me.

To be fair, you moaned about the replies three or four times before commenting on the few that actually gave advice.

£40k Ferarri 355, keep the change for running costs.

Well to be fair to myself, i did say in the original OP that any negative people who dont want to help, go away. I think i made that quite clear. Maybe i should say it again?

Fine. Here we go:

a) You are claiming to have a very, very large car budget. £150k is such a huge amount to spend on a car, that 95% of the people in this forum cannot even comprehend what they would do in the same situation. It's just beyond them. Some wont even earn it, in total, before tax, in a decade. Let alone spend it on a car. Therefore, the advice these people will be able to offer is virtually worthless - they can suggest pretty supercars. Great, but you can get this info by flicking through Top Gear Magazine.

b) You appear to be completely oblivious to the fact that £150k is a rather daft car budget. It buys all sorts of ridiculous exotica which as well as being real handful to drive is also a real pain to own. These cars are owned by people who also own other cars, and buy these cars because they love them not because somebody on the internet suggested it.

c) You must know how bizarre your thread looks in this forum, sat right above a thread with people going crazy because fuel is a whole 4p cheaper?

d) Why would somebody who doesn't seem to have an awful lot of car knowledge but aside such a huge budget for the purchase of a car?

e) The other 5% of this forum can comprehend the amount of money you have to spend, and, frankly, the fact you wish to spend it on a car frightens them to death. This, coupled with the fact that before you got this money you were 20 grand in debt at the age of 22 and had a GTI on finance as well rather suggests that finances are something it could be suggested that you suck at. Therefore whatever money you have come into appears to be pretty squandered away on useless crap you neither understand nor need PDQ, and you'll be left with nothing but a destroyed opportunity

f) It's almost certainly a load of bull anyway and we've had loads of people try it on over the years.

I have ONE peice of serious advice for you. If you genuinelly are a normal 22 year old guy who has suddenly come into a vast quantity of cash, go and buy a Golf R32. Currently, its your dream car. You like them. Buy it, brand new, in your favourite colour. Not only does this leave you with hundreds of thousands of spare cash you would be an IDIOT if you didnt invest somewhere, it also keeps you grounded on planet earth. Once you've made the move to seriously expensive stuff its very hard to come back.

I appreciate your reply and i understand what you are trying to say but you are tarnishing everyone with the same cloth. Just because you dont have proof that i can afford such thing, doesnt mean you have to be a horrible person about it. I simply created a new thread in a Forum which i browse regularly and was asking for peoples advice and opinions on what i should do. I didnt ask for an arguement, i didnt ask for backlash, all i asked was for some simple advice.

You know what? I may buy a R32 for 30k as a normal run around, but i also want something a bit more 'special' like an Aston Martin to take for a drive every so often. Is there anything wrong with it?

Im not trying to cause arguements and if you or anybody else doesnt believe me then thats fine. If people say dont buy it, invest it, i would appreciate their comments and understand where they are coming from but i asked for advice because i wanted to buy a special car.

This weekend i will go to the garages and test drive it. Does anyone know if i need to bring any proof that i can afford these cars? Bank statements? And what about insurance? Thanks to anyone that can help. Cheers.

If you really have just inherited a million quid you wouldn't give a flying **** what nasty people on the internet though, quite frankly.

And you would buy property, becuase I doubt you live in the nicest house you can afford right now.

I dont care what nasty people say, but i want to stick up for myself and not let the keyboard warriors defeat me. The first thing i did with the money is BUY A HOUSE, what else would i buy? I live with my parents at the moment and when the house is finished i will move in ASAP. Thus, if anyone has lots of money, im sure 90% of you would, 1) Buy a house and then 2) Buy a car. Am i right or wrong?

QUICK TO THE INTERNETS

Go speak to a financial adviser, then go to a couple of luxury car forecourts, then have a think, don't listen to the internets.

Why would anyone even think about asking a forum about a purchase of goods valued to £150k, it beggars belief.

I didnt say that i would TAKE someones advice and actually buy what they suggested, i was just asking for ideas and opinions on what they think i should buy and what i can get for that sort of money. I have already spoke to a financial adviser, thanks.
