I have a HP ZR30w which I have had for the last 5 years, it's a really great screen, I've started looking around though as I realise it won't last forever.

Everything seems to be 16:9 or 21:9 these days, are 30" monitors becoming a thing of the past?

There are still some 30" professional monitors around and a few other monitors in the ~30" ballpark.

16:10 is becoming scarce though - mostly only seems to exist in tablet/smartphone areas now and usually just so they can do 16:9 + some extra space for soft/navigation keys.

How about 31.5" & 32" 4K 3840x2160 monitors

Sadly I have to agree that 16:10 is a fading format. Pity, because when you actually want to, you know, do some work, it turns out that a bit of extra height isn't a bad thing... but there's more pixels per diagonal inch than with 16:9, so manufacturers have jumped on the cheaper option and convinced the world it's what we want :/

I've actually got a price watch on a 30" Iiyama IPS which probably shares a panel with the OP's HP. The frustrating thing is they're damn nigh as expensive as a 32" 4k screen - and twice the price of a 32" 1440p VA panel.

I would love to see new, good quality, 16:10 screens, but I think we'll just have to bite the bullet and let them go :(

Is 16:9 and a pain in the bum to drive at full resolution for gaming though :/

Years ago, I remember when what you'd most often see was 1600p models as opposed to the popular 1440p that we get nowadays.

There may be a new 2560x1600 Dell coming...

Unfortunately the 3014 is still close to a grand, I can't imagine the 3017 will be cheaper :(

I mean, I do want a 16:10 screen and I think 2560x1600 is a great resolution for 30", but I'm not prepared to pay twice as much as for a 4k 16:9 with a bigger diagonal... One of the big reasons for preferring QHD over 4k is to be able to use cheaper graphics hardware, there's no point if that gets swallowed up by a huge premium on the monitor :/
