Does the new interface still have the option to view compilations from the music menu? I believe the nano's don't have this feature and looking at the demo on the apple site it seems that they have removed this feature in the new iPod.

They apparently fixed some issues with the Cover Flow lag in a software update. I wonder how well it works with a large collection considering Cover Flow on my MacBook (2GB RAM) can go clucky at times (and eat up all the RAM)?

My collection is over 80GB (Lossless) and coverflow is clunky on the iPod, the update helped the other menus, and coverflow a little; nothing major though.

It's not as bad on my MBP with 4GB RAM but it's still doesn't scroll like butter*

*Steve Jobs joke ;)

I've been thinking of getting an Ipod classic for watching videos etc on the train..

What is the video playback like on it? Is the screen big enough to watch tv episodes without messing ** eyes up etc?

The screen size on the classic is perfect for tv shows, but not so great for movies.

The battery is much much longer on a classic though, so it's swings and roundabouts :)

It doesn't have a true matte finish like the Black MacBook, but it does appear matte because it's actually brushed aluminium (like the MacBook Pros) :)
