1680x1050 How does it look in games?

Hiya,

I have a 19" TFT running at 1280x1024, If I buy, say, the newer 20.1" widescreen monitors, how do games look?

As surely 1600x1200 is the resolution they use other than 1280x1024 which I use now?

Do they look distorted when playing with a widescreen TFT?

nope. far cry and hl2 support that res, looks awesome!!!!
ID Software do not....Doom and Q4 are best at 1280 anyway.

what about old games, like Red Alert 2, if u run them in say, 1024x768 does it look really bad?

Not sure about red alert 2, but transport tycoon in 1920x1200 is great Carmageddon 2 also works perfectly fine in widescreen. Can't say I have found a game that i own that doesn't like widescreen tbh

Some of them, like Far Cry and especially Doom 3, look squashed and zoomed though on that screenshot test site.

Older games can sometimes be made to look better in widescreen mode, more of the modern ones come with built in support now.
