If I were to go crossfire would the fact that I have one 16x and one 4x PCI-E slots make a big difference to if I had two 16x's?

As in should I get a new Mobo before considering this?

Mobo = asus P5k

Cheers,

G

A 4870 would be wasted on a 4x.

Agree with Reflux... don't bother.

I used 2900XT's on a P35 mobo and the xfire performance was terrible.

If i were you i'd get a P45 chipset as that would be much better. X38 is also a decent alternative.

can't remember were but there was a web artical covering this with P965 P35 and x48 among others , and the P35 board (think it was my humble p5k D ) showed that crossfire was complete waste with two 4870 , if u have a 4870 , sell it get a 4870X2 if you don't get a 4870X2 of similar/faster speeds
