17" Macbook Pro now Available

My 15" is currently at TNT Nuneaton depot :p
Wireless probs- There are some reports of a network working better in WinXP than in MacOSX. (Very close to the router; Not range issues)

I think 17" is a bit impractical to be honest. I've been eyeing up the 15" MacBook Pro but if they release a 13" widescreen MacBook Pro (or MacBook sans the white styling, which I'm not too fond of) I'll be sold :)

how easy is it to open up these laptops and install the ram?

Lift the battery out. 3 screws, pop the lid, pop in the stick, put it back together and your done. ;)

My 7 day old 15" MBP is back at apple after it died suddenly during use on (not so) good friday :( Didn't have any of the whining or wireless issues, just sudden death!

I still seriously thinking of getting an imac for the mrs to have at home though, just can't decide on a 17" or 20" though.

which is a bloody good saving of £300!! i dont mind a us keyboard it cant be much different can it...

Just the number 3 key. US is #, UK is £.
The usual PC suspects of @ and " are in the normal US keyboard place.

Well worth the £250+ saving IMO.

That's always bugged me about Mac keyboards.

but that isnt just mac keyboards, its all US keyboards isn't it?

does anyone have a macbook pro & if yes which one & what are their impressions of it?

I've got a 15" infront of me if that counts?

Really well made and looks lovely. Not really much else to say tbh, performance is good but doesn't blow me away although I haven't really done much on it :P

Heads up to people, I might sell my 2.1GHz iMac G5 soon (next month) in replace for a new 17inch macbook pro.

...pop an email if you're interested.. ;)

Yeah, but UK Apple keyboards follow the US layout for @ and ". Which is crazy.

Not really, I use " a lot more than £ so I'm to have it in a more accessable place and I find switching to a standard UK keyboard in uni no problem at all.

Hey, I've got to adjust from a Natural Keyboard to a "normal" one, so moving the keys around is just an extra thing to get used to :p

I use a G4 15" powerbook. Considered the 17" (work pay for it so could have had any) but after looking at them in the Apple store I deceided it was just too big. Its still portable but IMO it wouldnt be practical to use on the train, especially if you cant get a table.

I'll probably upgrade to the 15" MB Pro in about 10 months (need to get 2 years out of this one first). Screen will feel like an upgrade anyway doe to its higher resolution.
