17" TFT for Relative

My nephew is after a 17" TFT for his bedroom. He said he does not want anything bigger as a 17" would be more than big enough for him. He likes to play games, surf the net, etc etc on his pc so can you recommend a suitable TFT?

It must be 17" and a good make.

I have suggested:

AG Neovo F417
Samsung 730BF
Viewsonic VX724

Can anyone say if these are any good and if anyone has one can they please comment on thier good and bad points?

Any help would ge great as he wants to buy one this week! He has approx £180 to spend. Rememeber, he is only interested in a 17" TFT. Ta

vx724 here; great display, very bright (tuned mine a bit) and contrast good (again tuned it).
Only let down is the slight white ghost on bright surfaces in games its weird...dont get it with my bro's 17" samsung and its only 8ms :S

But other than that no ghosting/trails with the mouse and movies look great

I know that a 17" TFT is not the first choise these days but anymore advice would be great.

Anyone got an AG Neovo F417 TFT? The spec looks good as does the price!

the Neovo F417 used to be pretty popular round here, still a good screen, just that 19" models tend to overshadow the 17" market nowadays. A Lot of the 17" market is very similar since the sector has long been saturated by a few panels and specs / performance are all quite similar nowadays in that area

Yea, very nice indeed. The only thing is that the VGA cable is attached the to TFT so any problems and i can't replace it.

I was tempted to go for the Samsung 730bf as that had a DVI cable too. Did i make the right choice?

Spoke too soon about this TFT!!

Was on it tonight when i noticed what i thought were a couple of dust marks. Turned out to be dead or lazy pixels!!! Gutted.

It is going back. I have had an RMA number already!! Returning it under the 7 day distance selling thingy. Well, this is my 4th or 5th TFT that i have tried. It was meant for a relative but that won't happen now.

I will more than likely get the:

Hyundai ImageQuest Q770S 17'' Perfectly Flat CRT Monitor - Black/Silver (MO-006-HY)

Play safe as i am sick of getting TFT's with problems with Pixels etc! Had a guts full now.

Was toying with getting the Samsung 730bf but too nervous of getting another faulty TFT!!
