£1700 to spend on Laptop, any recommendations?

I have approx £1700 to spend on a laptop, I will probably use it for gaming and it will almost certainly be used as a desktop replacement. I was looking at the mid range spec Dell XPS Gaming 1730 solution, with 3 years warranty and 2 years accident cover.

Thoughts on this?

I've never had a problem with Dells, this is replacing my current Dell system which managed to survive over 5 years of abuse!

If you get the dell, dont get the 8700, make sure you get the 8800 to futureproof it a bit, the 8700's are just overclocked 8600's

Hi,

you can get the top spec XPs M1730 on offer at the moment for £1500 ish after offers and quidco.... thats with 2x160 RAID0, t9300, 2 GB and 8800M SLI.... Unbelievably good offer as your saving about 25%. I was going to get the X80r for a similar price until i saw this offer. I am going to be ordering one myself in the next few days

Hi,

Yeah its a little over budget but i reckon worth every penny when buying a performance laptop you want it to last a while so get the best you can possibly stretch to for longevity

Quidco is like an online rewards point system you set up an account and if you visit quidco and click their links to many online retailers you get credited cash back to your quidco account when purchasing anything from 1-2% upto about 10%. The rewards arent instant though and sometimes you have to wait quite a while beofre the money appears in your quidco account.
