Not sure about the bird... defo get the decking treated with the appropriate protection for the winter though :)

Folk

That's in the next few days, weekend I believe! Cheers for the advice mate :) This bit of decking is out of the way, but still needs treating, nontheless.

Always get Sparrowhawks at my Dad's house, they like to pick off the young blue **** etc that feed on the berries and food we put out for them :)

Remember one time we watched a sparrowhawk catch and eat a sparrow on the fence at the end of the garden :) was awesome to see it in action.

Looks superb indeed. I'm hoping my Christmas present will be to spend a day at a falconary centre as I think birds of prey are amazing creatures

Get yourself here mate, i did one about a 6 weeks ago, it was amazing. Its also not that far from you.

In the morning you fly several different types of birds. Smaller ones first and then before lunch you will fly a huge eagle. Then lunch. Then you get to go hunting down at the local scout camp with two Harris Hawks. We didnt catch anything when we walked round but it was still great fun.

Id also suggest going mid-week, and a time when the temp is lower as the bigger birds really dont like the heat. We only flew the eagle once each due to it being a scorcher of a day.

Hey, thanks for the mini-review, excellent to hear from somebody who has done a day there  I know where Blakemere is and it's pretty handy to get to.

I have been to the Cotswolds Falconary Centre which does courses. I visited and saw the flying demonstration there back in June - they have an amazing selection of birds. The lady doing the demo was excellent.

The one that visits us ignores the Blue **** & goes for the Doves :)

Sorry MNuTz didn't see it. If you need any help, I'll be more than happy to help. It would be a good idea to get yourself on a week course or find a mentor that lives near you before you get your first bird.

Get yourself over the International falconry forum. Full of helpful and knowledgable people. Might find someone near to you?

Heres the club that I'm in locally:- www.southerncountiesraptorclub.co.uk
