hot water and place battery in bag, dip and enjoy

Well I dunno about that, i've had far more luck actually heating the cells up, causes the chemicals to expand slightly.

Probably depends on the battery technology, coming to think of it, I've had camera batteries die on me due to extreme cold (Lithium Ion).

Do you need the number this instant? If not you can get mobile 'instant' chargers from places like Carphone Warehouse that work as a one time only thing. Alternatively if your phone has the facility to connect through a data cable to the PC that normally charges the phone also.

Other than that already suggested I'm out of ideas I'm afraid.
 
I zapped a normal Alkaline 9v battery with 10,000v a few times once and it went from dead up to 5v :eek: . Dies very quickly again though, and isn't very practical ;)
 
Only other thing I can think of is if you have some other power source (like a battery from another phone/laptop etc) that is as powerful or slightly more powerful than the phone battery would be when fully charged, "hot wire" it (+ve to +ve, -ve to -ve) for a few short bursts, it should "charge" it a little.

If you put the phone in the freezer it will probably clear the memory as below a certain temperature the flash memory doesn't hold it's data.

We used to put batteries on the radiator as kids to get a bit more life out of them. They were old school Duracells though.
 
Nothing much you can do really. You will get a little power from it by warming it up, but not enough to keep the phone on long enough. You can also leave the phone for a few hours and then try, but the battery would die so quick you wouldn't be able to get the details you need.
