.

iI is slightly silly and irresponsible not to inform people of her correct address and could get her into trouble in some case. (car ins for example)
I don't know who picks up the bill for the redirected mail but it is thoughtles at the very least.
And yes you are being anal :D

Covers it imo :)

I do this with certain things as I have two addresses but any post that I get redirected has another stamp put on it. If a different address is written on the letter, surely the stamp has been marked as used and cannot be used again, hence the receiving party will be charged the cost of postage on receipt. I thought this was the case?

When my old address has been scribbled out and my new address written on the letter without another stamp being put on, I have been charged on receipt for the cost of postage.

Well I've had to do this for the previous occupiers of this building, not sure if the sender or RM pick up the tab to be honest..

I was under the impression RM sorted it out at the sorting stage of mail?

Yet the people I mentioned above still haven't told companies their new address, when it is costing them for each item (if what you say is correct).

That'd be if you contact RM and sort out a proper redirect rather than just letting all the mail carry on going whereever and then cross out the address and heave it back.

Well that's different from my situation and the situation in the OP as you are relying on a complete stranger to forward your mail to you. In my case, I have family at my other address who forward the letters for me. For various reasons, it can be of benefit to keep certain accounts and contacts at a 'home' address rather than a temporary address.

When I've ever have forwarded post - it's simply had my parents address crossed out and my forwarding address written next to it. I've never been charged for recieving post in this way and my parents have never paid for it. No new stamps or anything.

When we get post for the people living in our house that needs forwarding we just stick in their new address and put it in the post box and we are never charged.

I'm the one forwarding other people's mail ;) Quite a lot actually, seeing as it was 9 people.

oooh ok, yea have to agree then thats pretty bad what they are doing then, but i suppose its worse for them having to wait longer for their post?

If I were you I'd do it for a while then bin it after. If they can't change their address, the mail couldn't be that important to them. I have been living in one of my properties now for about 15 months and I still get mail from previous occupiers. It all goes in the bin now.

Some of it does look important. Banks and building societies, for one.

Probably chasing them for owed monies. We get them constantly. We have none of their addresses so it's all binned or returned to sender.
