.

Me and my girlfriend did Barcelona in May last year and it was pretty warm, not sure what it's like in March but I doubt it'll be cold. I really enjoyed it, we went for 4 days and got tickets for the tour bus which takes you around the city and also to all of the main attractions. There are plenty of places to eat near the center of the city which is where we stayed. You want to stay somewhere fairly close to Plaça de Catalunya because that's where all of the tour buses start and it is at the end of the Rambla which is the main street in Barcelona.

I'm not the type of person who wanders around art museums but I really enjoyed visting places like the Sagrada Família and Guell Park, the Olympic Stadium is worth a visit too. You won't be stuck for things to do there, you'll have too much to do if anything.

I visited Barcelona for a day last year with the gf we just did the day trip round on the bus its good as it gets you round all the major tourist attractions and you can get on and off any time you want. Costs about 20 euros each I think (may be cheaper). Theres an aquarium which is supposed to be good near the habour (bus stops there), visit the cathederal (sagrada familia/ or something like that) its fantastic amazing work. Shopping is supposed to be good. I wanted to watch a football match at the nou camp but was not allowed lol. As mentioned above the Guell park is good. Olympic stadium and the palace is also awesome to visit, (I'm a civil engineering student so I like buildings, humor me). One thing though keep an eye out for pickpockets especially on the trains. :)

Its an amazing city and I hope you have an awesome time :)

Have a lookhere at the forums, There are plenty of places to go. Buy a pass for the public transport system for unlimited travel for 24 or 48 hours

We are thinking about staying near the sagrada familia, it doesnt look too far from las ramblas on google earth lol.

Do you think that's too far?

Rent an apartment. Miles cheaper than a hotel and often much nicer.

Am over in barca w/c 17 march with mrsyoustolemyname. Been many many times, fantastic city with loads to do.

Try and keep away from the Ramblas if you can. It's overpriced, full of dodgy characters and not really 'true' Barcelona.

What's the best part to stay in?

Id stay as near as possible to placa catalunya. It's reasonably central and has got the metro and buses so transport to other parts of the city is not an issue.

The further south towards the beach you go down the ramblas the more tacky and shady it becomes. Same with the Raval area, keep out of that late at night.

But most of all, have fun there. It's a terrific city with loads to do.

Agree my wife actually stopped a pick pocket from taking someones wallet. The guy was drugged up and he followed us around whilst we looked for a police or security guard. They were non existant probably why the place is full of thieves and druggies, not a nice place.

Bohemian is what the travel guides call dodgy places like that.

La Ramblas is fine during the day, its not recommended to go walking about further down there in the evening though due to people getting stabbed and such.
I can't remember what museum it is now but its on top a big hill and if if you go right up the top, you can see over the whole of barcelona. Stunning views and deffinatly worth a visit at night

I lived there for a short time and just avoided it at all times. Nothing really worth seeing on the Ramblas, everything is massively overpriced and food etc is not particularly good. Well, possibly the Opera House and market are worth seeing but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.... Pickpockets are about day and night so best not to risk it :/ The tranny prostitutes are quite adept at picking pockets and they hang around the entrance to the market on the ramblas at night. There are also a load that hang around the peep show at the bottom as I had an apartment there for a short time.

Is the museum you are thinking about on the top of Montjuic where the olympic stadium etc is? The view is great like you say, lovely place on a clear sunny day.

cheers for the suggestions guys :) Thankfully, the lady took care of booking everything, I just had to pay for it ;) So we've ended up staying in some totally awesome hotel, despite the price being a little more than I anticipated! Women :p
