Is the challenge to destroy a Thinkpad?:p
I got my R31 second hand about 5 years ago, it was second hand.
The only thing that ever died was the hard drive.
It has taken such a beating, deffernatly recommend IBM.

Anyway I digress, well done!

Thanks, I really appreciate the info :)

What was your group project if you don't mind me asking?

We had to make an online multiplayer game, fun challenge, but some other groups at my uni came out with just unbelievable projects. If you one your unis it must have been pretty ace haha

I just missed out on this last year. My university used a second year group work task to decide the team which goes forward for the ThinkPad challenge. From the feedback from my friends who went it sounded pretty good. I was a little annoyed that our group didn't win, as we honestly deserved to, but I ended up getting an internship and working for IBM in Hursley all summer anyway :)

Last year we had to create a desktop and mobile application designed for runners, so that the users could plan routes, view feedback, create training schedules, etc, on the desktop - and sync it to the Dell Axim PDA so they could go out running. There was also a ghost runner feature where you could run against yourself (similar to a ghost car on Gran Turismo/other racing games). Pretty complicated.

The current second years worked on creating an ordering and stock delivery software system for Proctor & Gamble. Not as exciting imo, and no PDA/GPS to play with, but at least it had a real-world client.

The problem here is that unfortunately "robustness" is not the only quality the Thinkpad shares with a brick
