18 Movies

If 1 person is 18 or over can you take people under 18?

I think thats how it used to work or does work in the states, but not over in the UK.

I remember being stopped going into a 12 with my parents (was Mrs Doubtfire!). Of cause, my mums faultless ability to lie really hit home... I watched the film :) lol

You can't. In the states you can get into an R rated pic with someone 17 or over, but not an NC-17. It's why most films will tone down the violence etc to get an R as most cinema's refuse to show NC-17 due to less people being able to see it.

No your getting confused with PG and 12A. 18 isn't like either it's just strictly 18s and over. with things like 12A it means under 12's can attend if they are accompanied by a parent.

In the states an adult can take a child into any film unless it's an NC-17 which is basically our 18.

In the UK anyone can go into a U or a PG, and an adult can take a child into a 12A.

You don't get many 18 rated films these days. There aren't usually even that many 15s. Either films have got less violent or the standards have changed. I think the latter. Looking back at old 18 rated films, these days those films would get no more than 15 rating, even 12A in some cases.

:confused: any age can see a PG

PG = Parental Guidence.

Means anyone can be allowed to see it and if a parent is there then they know that the film may contain a little bit of this or a little bit of that, nothing serious maybe an odd swear word here and there nothing bad.

Exactly

" 'PG' Parental Guidance - General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children

Unaccompanied children of any age may watch. A ‘PG’ film should not disturb a child aged around eight or older. However, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger or more sensitive children."
