£180 graphics card

Not keen myself on either sli or crossfire - too much cost and heat for too little reward.

I game at 1920 x1200 and find that one 260 is good enough for me - Maybe there are occasions when I have to tone down some of the eye candy but not , for me anyway, to the point of dissapointment !

A 4890 should be enough to game at 1920 with all or very nearly all eye candy on. If it proves insufficient then you could always buy a second later.

Or , if you can stretch your budget/redistribute how about a 4870x2 - not quite as noisy or power consuming as crossfire
 
I play at 2048x res and the second 260GTX is deffinatly an asset (in some games its the difference between 45 and 80fps when maxing everything out) - 1920x is perfectly playable on a single card - but personally I find the framerates a little too low for multiplayer if I want to keep settings maxed.
