;)

I have NO idea if the figures shown are accurate but do recolect that when the 5850 appeared the tests (with,of couse, immature drivers) showed that it was not that much faster than the 'old' 4890.

So might be a similar situation here.

True, but look at the time scale differece between the launch of the 4890 and the 5850 compared to the GTX 285 and the 470.

Never ceases to amaze me that this benchmark is fact by the ATI girls, but when there is a benchmark posted that shows the 480 being 20-30% faster, its fake.

That's because there is no solid benchmarks around atm.

fermi was meant to be out ages ago, they havent made it better in the last 6 months, they just got it so they can produce a few. Also having to lower its spec etc, meaning the margines are smaller than they had original set out to achieve.

do you think is it true that some people have waited 6months to buy fermi when they could have being playing top flight games on ati ? and by the time fermi hits the ati will have moved on even further

I have. But then again It's pretty hard to beat my gpus without going crossfire, which would mean id need a new mobo, so i may as well then get an i7 :/

And nda is lifted on 26th march. so friday is when I will laugh at everyone, or cry, or cry from laughter, or something. At least I have a 1.5 hours massage booked in at the end of the day so whatever happens, ill end up relaxed.

Ah, a 'happy ending' then :)

Nope. Maybe people have been waiting to see if there is anything worth upgrading to ( i.e. giving a big enough jump in performance). I know i am. I want a new single GPU but i want something that is going to give me a valuable enough increase in performance from my GTX 275 to justify it. At the moment the 5870 isnt quite there for me.

If Fermi isnt big enough a jump as well then i guess i will just wait for ATI's 6 series.

You should post them up and argue why you think they are real, instead of making random posts with nothing to back it up.

I will be astonished if the GTX480/GTX470 doesn't hammer the 5870 and 5850 into next week. Looking at the cores side by side ( and forgetting about Nvidia's monumental cockup ) a GTX480 should give the 5970 a hard time.

Who said they were fake, links?? or stop typing crap like a complete Nvidiot.

I think he was referring to this article?

As it turns out, the numbers were indeed too good to be true. If you run the Dirt2 demo, the GTX470 and GTX480 drop back to DX9 mode, as you can see it in the picture above. Since they are doing far less work, frame rates go up. Running the DX11 code path drop frames by around 25 to 40 percent for the same work. In the game itself, DX11 works just fine on the GTX480, so it is likely that the demo lacked the correct profile for the then unreleased and 6 months out GTX4x0s.
