.

Been going casually for about a year, never really knew what I was doing though or had a routine. Went between 1-2 times a week.

I'm suffering from guttate psoriasis at the moment do really not keen on putting up pics. Will do if it clears.

Awesome. Put up a thread and we can compare notes.

I'll get some videos up of my lift for critique in the next week.

My goals are very loose, try hard and see what happens.

Diet is absolutely horrendous and I'm far too lazy to change that at the moment.

If you don't address this sooner rather then later you may find progress slow going, unless you eat lots but just junk, and then you might find fat gains along side strength gains. Good numbers to start from so will be interesting to see how you progress.

I'm fat enough already. I'm a fussy eater so I also eat a limited range of foods.

Psymonkee, I can do that only with my weaker left leg as I had exercises to do for a knee injury that gave me the flexibility needed.

Edit: just got the gf to take a load of pics, but the psoriasis looks so bad :(

Hmm, ok. I'll post them when I get home tonight.

Should I be doing 1 set of deadlifts for the 5x5? Doing 5 sets feels great.

I think I've started this 5x5 wrong too, as the starting weight isn't that far off my maximum lift. I think I'll just stick with it though as squatting 50Kg etc is a complete waste of time. I'll just do the usual drop 10% when I fail 3 times in a row on an exercise as suggested.

Going to be doing dips/wide arm pullups and ab exercises along with the 5x5.

Please be gentle as the psoriasis really does affect my confidence :(

This is also the first time "posing" and I have no idea how to look good in photo's :p

Bro, the psoriasis really is nothing to worry about or get down about - U_E has worst and he rolls with it :)

That's a brilliant lean-ish base to be working from, already got a fair amount of mass! Post up your day-to-day diet and we'll rip it to shreds :)

The psoriasis started late January so it's very new for me.

Not sure we can really discuss it here. Either way I've been to the doctors 3 times about it and am getting a private referral.

Stabilised yesterday on my set A. Time to start increasing the weights each session:

Edit: I am doing a clean and strict press like this for the OHP:

Nice work and the pics look great, putting me to shame there :)

You're kidding me? My max bench is a touch over 80Kg and yours is 105+!

I'm working in Belfast for 3 days and the Hilton hotel here has a crap gym :(

What do you guys do if you have a poor gym for a few days? They have a few machines and lots of cardio stuff but very few free weights and no oly bar.

Well.. I slacked off completely while in Belfast, and got stuck there due to the adverse weather so haven't had the chance to go to my local gym for almost a week!

I'll be going tomorrow though, and got a private doctors appointment for the psoriasis on Wednesday.

Good session today.

Squat 95*5*5
Bor 65*5*5
Chest press 70*5*5

Time to start incrementing the weight. I'm going to drop to 5*1 for the dead lift after reading up a bit more on the 5x5 routine.

Each session I do an ab exercise and either body weight pull ups, dips or javelin etc for fun and variety.

Going to cut all chocolate, sweets and crisps out for my diet, and work on it from there if I can manage that.

Did the pad affect my lift at all? Any point in not using it?

I'm not doing any lifts with bare feet!

Don't get me wrong, I very much welcome advice, I just need it to have some solid basis rather than just because.

Lots to take on board!

I'll be keeping the gloves (my hand span is huge, I can reach both CTRL keys on a full sized keyboard with one hand... I have zero problems gripping the bar), but I'll give the other suggestions a try.

Is it worth changing to a simpler strict press for the 5x5 without trying any form of clean? That motion looks a bit complex for a beginner.
