I edit the title for help with different questions regarding this product rather than creating a new thread each time.

My question is now, is it normal for these fans to intermittently rev up when idling at a low rpm?

Well I remember that there used to be a warning on their website about the fans havingto be set up s certain way or ssomething using software but it seems to be gone now.

I have my own custom cooling setup on the GPU but I've bought a new monitor with 144hz so my card needs proper cooling again lol.

It's on it's way! It looks pretty fiddly to put onto the GPU, do I have to buy a substance to attach the heat sinks which I assume come with it? P.S. I found it a lot cheaper than it's usual price by about £20.

From looking at the spec the cooler doesnt have any heatsinks you put on the ram/vrms, that massive sink that fits on the back of the card does that job. All you have to worry about it cleaning the gpu die of old paste then fitting the cooler(which has paste pre applied) :)
Oh right, the videos I watched shows people sticking little heat sinks on, weird. Well that's good to know thank you :) No wonder the it keeps the gpu so cool and so well then with those fans with lower RPMs, nice! :)

Okay well going by videos the thermal pads go on the opposite side to these components and then the black heatsink goes straight onto the thermal pads so I definitely have to put thermal pads on.. Perhaps I dont need the black heatsink?

Been using this video as a rough guide

that black heatsink already has a thermal pad under it..is the new cooler a generic fits all cooler or one designed for the card you have?
It is made to fit this card too so that heat sink won't get in the way, p.s. thanks very much for your help I thought I'd never finish it before bed time (work nights).

Well it's all installed and working and it just about fit in my case :S but unfortunately one of the fans is wobbling and the other has an intermittent faint sound like a cricket when it is running at idle :(

Is there a way to stop these fans at idle?

well im pretty sure you cant turn the fans off completely unless you have the bios updated like I did,you can set a profile in msi afterburner to start at 25% fan speed tho and ramp up from there but I always run a minimum of 25% fan speed just to keep the vrms and memory chips cool as well.

Okay thanks, my custom made cooler with case fans plus my stock cooler always stopped at idle, strange... well the fans keep the gpu cool in my games which is good, I just have to order another and swap the faulty fan heat sink part over and send that back which is a pain.

They keep speeding up and slowing down too when idle.

Plus seeing as it's such a good cooler I have ordered some cables to connect the fans to a Noctua fan controller so I can just change the speed myself.

Maybe look at stock cooler to figure out where it contacted board components to get an idea where heatsinks need to go. ;)
I did all of that but I've ordered a replacement due to the wobbly fan lol.. This thing revs up intermittently under idle speed too I guess to keep it cool but its annoying so deciding weather to manually control the fan seeing as it's relatively quiet at even 100% or to buy two mini GPU extensions so I can just pull them apart when not playing games. P.S. I didn't realise this thing would over hand length wise so much, I think I had literally a centre metre of space left, so lucky ha.

Is it normal for these fans to intermittently rev up (roughly 50%) when idling at a low rpm? I am not sure why they spin at all when idle as my stock fans would stay off.

I notice it speeds up when browsing too sometimes (might be coincidence).

I would have thought they should act just like the stock fans, make sure the connector is seated properly. Or do what i did with my old accelero and install Speedfan and just set them to low rpm and see how temps are. Even set to just 30% they were still better cooling by magnitudes than the stock cooler.
Hmmm, it's very odd indeed and I agree that it should just act the same and not even run at idle, I will try what you said. I don't even want them running at all at idle.

Okay So I will have to accept that they will always be running at idle for what ever reason and I have set the fan speed from the minimum of 0% speed to the minimum of 30% speed with MSI Afterburner and the speed of the fans have not changed which is good and it has also stopped revving up randomly and it's silent so I am happy now :) Cheers for your help.

Spoke too soon lol, I think I will just stick to the Noctua fan controller or the old fashioned disconnect between games and desktop use, for what ever reason the fans are trying to keep the GPU from exceeding 25oC when my old stock fans and my Noctua case fan botched job both turned off when idle.

Before going down that route id be in touch with Arctic's support asking what the deal is with it not stopping at idle and the revving(although i think the revving must be temp related)

I take it you have watched the temp in Afterburner to see when exactly the revving starts?

I have checked and the fan revs up when at 27oC it never goes above that temperature, I will contact them and I will be sending the fans part back anyway as one of the fans are wobbling a bit, I have ordered a new one to replace it.

Nice cooler though heat test with 100% gpu usage for an hour and the GPU stayed at 50oC with the fans running at 45% and I reckon that the room temperature is 40oc or so with the ole electric heater pumping out at the moment.
