18TB Elements in Synolgy DS418

The 18TB WD Elements drives are decent price, will this work in my DS418? I'm on DSM 6.2.4-25556 Update 7
How much are seeing it for it, I can see it for around 255 if you import it or 300 from WD...

Most of the 18TB I've seen shucked say they're enterprise drives and based on the noise of my own 18TB WD Elements (I have 2 of them, I have not shucked them) I'd say that's likely still the case. Looking through the vents show a 'normal' HD, but can't say for certain if it's got the power connector issue that needs a bit of tape to fix.

Honestly though, considering you can get a WD Ultrastar DC H550C 18TB 3.5" SATA Enterprise HDD/Hard Drive 7200rpm (which is likely the same drive) for £276 and get full warranty etc (you can lose it with shucking) I'd likely just grab the drive outright if it was me.

I can't confirm if it will work with the synology but the supported list does seem to stop at 16TB and there might be an os limitation on drives bigger than 16TB.... maybe a quick email to synology?

I would

I wouldn't buy anything from spam computers
