Is this car rear drive or front drive, if its rear drive is it so bad handling wise that when people talk about rear drive cars its not even mentioned?

from my experience (my dad owned one for a bit) these cars are just shoddy, 4 cyl engines sound terrible and performance is a word which doesn't apply to them, reliability is poor, autobox is woeful, interior plastics are naff (and squeak all the time), alarm system consistently problematic, brakes would squeal all the time despite changing pads and shims twice.

The only redeeming features of that car were that it looked pretty good (black and on low, sport suspension) and it was mildy amusing going sideways on snowy days.

I owned a C240 for about 10 months and it was a fine car. Fast, reliable, refined and handled very well. No rattles or failures whatsoever.

I have owned 4, the one pre 97 model was a dog, but it was an ex taxi with 320k on the clock, engine was smokey but the rest of it was fairly solid.

The other 3, a 98 r (which i still have, 99 and 2000 models have been spot on,not one single problem, unlike the A class and E class's we breifly owned.
