hi all, was looking for a 19 inch square tft monitor, and have come across the Hanns-G HC194D. question is, is this monitor any good? does it have reliability issues? and can it be used for gaming or will it give blurry images?

thanks for any assistance.

edit: here is the specs of the monitor from the HannsG website. Monitor is on special offer this week only on ocuk.

I cant help you there, but that is darn cheap! For that price there is no reason why you shouldn't get two ;)

yes, have seen them go for £120 inc vat and delivery so they are very good on price. but not sure if they are a cheapo for a reason. although they do come with the 3 year warranty im not sure what the general quality of the monitor will be like.

its going to be used for my second pc which is used for general web browsing and playing network red alert 2. i need to get rid of the 17 icn crt that i have since its taking up too much desk space now that i have a printer on the desk.

the spec of the 2nd pc is : xp3200, 1gig ram, gf4 ti4200 128mb. its good enough for red alert 2 and also seems to run toca race driver 3 quite well.
so anyone know how hanns G are as a manufacturer and thier general quality?

yea i noticed that about the aspect ratio. but looks like the majority of these tft's use that silly ratio. seen the video 7 20 incher which is uing the proper 4:3 but it costs 30 quid more than this monitor. and its higher rez is gonna be a bit more woundage on the gfx card. so its best i stick to 19 incher and 1280x1024.

was just wondering if this monitor will blur when playing games or watching videos since tft;s are slow when it comes to screen updates.

also if this monitor has both vga and dvi inputs can i hook up 2 machines to it and switch between the machines?

Yes all monitors that have more than 1 input have a button (usually on the front of the monitor ;)) which allow you to switch between inputs.

I am sure you could google for some reviews :) Might be quicker than waiting for someone to give you their opinion!

yea i tried all the searches before i posted. go no response. guess no one is buying these monitors. im gonna stick with more well know brands like samsung etc.

Im considering getting one of these monitors off Overclockers, I mainly want it as my 1st monitor for like gaming etc and my current monitor (15" tft) as a second.

Why would you stick to well known brands Cyber-Mav?

Is it worth spending £125 odd on this?

Steve :)

thats the same question im asking. from what iv seen there have been hardly any replies on this forum regarding this Hanns G brand. so im assuming that no one is replying because no one has a hans G monitor. and im assuming here that no one buys them because they must be dodgey or something.

im still searching the net though and trying to find reviews etc.

at the end of the day it has a 3 year warranty so it must be reliable otherwise the manufacturer would go bankrupt on returns alone.

the hanns G website looks flash too. but i can;t judge a company by their website. heheh.

What is SM3?

and does it make a big difference if you have it or not?

If people would chip in for me to buy a...

Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor

I will put £130 off it - £175 needed...please :(

Steve :)

*I am serious about people chipping in if they are rich :D*
