19k Audi TT diesel on a lease or through a bank loan

He sounds like one of those types who when he wants something he will get it, come hell or high water, despite any and all advice to the contrary, and realise everyone was right and regret it later on once it's too late.

You've done what you can but some people just won't be told. Leave him to find out the hard way by financially ruining himself for a laughably inappropriate car

This is all good - keep the views coming guys - they can be for or against, short or detailed.

I'm going to show him this thread on Monday.

Same. The TDI TT and Scirocco are the most stupid cars on the planet.
To be fair, other than the horrible noise they're not all that slow for diesels. The TDI TT is just as fast as its Peugeot petrol equivalent!

I wouldn't spend £19k on one; if it was at the top of my tax bracket for a lease I might consider it though.

New car vs used car arguments aside. The petrol variant is always the version to go for unless you do large miles. Which he doesn't (he walks to work ffs so many people would be jealous).

Where's Fox when you need him? He's good at putting together financial arguments and calculations.

This doesn't need good financial arguments or calculations - it is clearly the most ill thought out idea, by someone i assume is a moron.

Probabley the type who's buying it for the MPGzzzzzz savings, then goes out and spunks four figures on a private number plate, well done matey.

I wouldnt do it, after getting it, theres tax, running costs etc. (or does the leasing company cover these)

If it were me and if I had to get it. I'd get the bank loan, as at the end of the day the car belongs to you and if you are struggling to afford the car you can sell it and make some money back etc

if you are trying to sell the car and if you have leased it it will show up on hpi checks etc that it has outstanding fiance on it so no one will buy it.

SLK is a better deal on a lease from what I've seen, if you absolutely must have a brand new car but can't afford to drop the cash.

That video -

Does he really think that sounds good? I mean it still sounds like a diesel.

Is there even such a thing as a nice sounding diesel!

I liked the sound of my old Octavia 1.9 SLX TDI when accelerating. Still sounded like a tractor at idle though.
