Hi All

I have recently seen a canon 1D MK2 for sale, second hand by a professional camera shop

What i would like to know is would the lenses that i currently use on my 350 still work on the 1D?

I have a 170 - 500mm sigma, a 105mm sigma macro lens, a 75 - 200mm lens aswell

Many Thanks

Also what would you consider a good price for an excellent condition 1D to go for? (body only)

Nick

Most 1D MkII and 1D MkIIn's go for between a minimum of around £1100 to a maximum of around £2000 for a good example of the latter with a decent shutter count.

As for lenses, any EF mount lens will work apart from EF-S lenses as they're designed for 350D/400D/450D AFAIK, and will not physically go on a 1D

wow ok, the 1D mk2 i have seen is £700 and in excellent condition do you think i should snap it up??

ill have to check my lenses, i dont think the big zoom lenses and macro lenses i have are efs

Not bad, eos-classifieds have a used MkIIn on for £1200, so its well priced, although i'd check the shutter count, if its approaching 150-200k it may need a new shutter (forgotten the actual rated value) its definitley worth checking..

As a simpler guide, I'm guessing you're coming up from a xxxD or an xxD, which both accept EF-S lenses. Any lens that aligns to the white square, rather than the red circle when you're putting it on won't work.

If you have a selection of mid range lenses and no idea about the Canon lens system I would question the need for a 1 series camera. Lenses > Bodies

i do question how worth while it would be getting a 1 series camera if you don't have the lenses to take advantage of it.

i have to admit, if the lenses i have already fitted the 1D then i would seriously consider but photography is not my profession, only a hobby at the moment and i cannot justify spending so much money on replacing all the lenses i use!

Thanks for the info though i may consider it again a bit further down the line
