Help !

I've decided to sell the FTO because she's not really getting used and she costs too much to keep on the road when she only gets used twice a week for me to drive 5 mins and back to the Gym

Also we are doing a lot of motorway travelling and she's no good for comfort and economy !

Desmo's car is a 206 so that's a little small to be a comfortable motorway car so we're looking for a nice barge with a few toys

Must have :

AirCon
Cruise Control
4/5 Doors
Good fuel economy
Be ok being used very little
Not too daft on insurance
2.0 Litre

Cars I've so far thought of :

Honda Accord
Toyota Avensis
VW Passat

I will not entertain a Mondeo ... sorry Fox ! :p

Thanks for all your suggestions , Will really help me to have a good look around

I'm fairly open minded but I do want a car that looks nice as well

I do seem to have an aversion to fords which I just can't shift ... don't know why :/

I want a nice , reliable comfortable car that is a nice size so we don't have to worry about cramming all our stuff in when we go down to Swansea for weekends

Going to do some online insurance quotes on some of the suggestions :D

Insurance would be about £500 :)

Winnar - go and sit in it and i guarantee you'll buy, lovely lovely cars :) I'd maybe try for one with nicer wheels though

She does look lovely !

The insurance was a nice surprise as well , was expecting it to be in the £700 mark rather than £500

It's an Auto which I don't mind at all ... I'm kinda growing out of revving the nuts outta things :o

You could easily get a Passat 1.8T for the sort of budget which would make a great motorway cruiser. If you don't mind an older car though, the BMW 5's would be my choice.

Dexy is just over 10 years old , I have no issues with older cars .. age is but a number ! :p

Was thinking about a 99/00 one anyway :)

I'm gonna pop and have a look at that one I posted earlier as soon as I can

Top post Foxy !

Thanks mate , really helpfull :)

Which one is the facelift and what do you think of the one I posted ?

Just been doing some reading on Parkers.com

I'm very impressed at the specs, I honestly didn't think I could get as much car as that with the amount of money we are looking at spending

I don't want to spend too much but at the same time I don't want to buy crap .. I want to buy a car which will last us a good few years and the 5 seems to be it ... the others I had been thinking of just don't really compare either in looks or specs

Wonder if the garage is open tomorrow ? ;)

Imagine how you will feel with a decent barge then! :p

Sit down and do your sums though. Make sure you realise that it won't neccesarily be as hassle free and cheap to own as, say, your Civic Sport was :)

Will still be cheaper than Dexy ;) :D

Phoned up about that black one yesterday but it was in with BMW being serviced and apparantly there were 4/5 people in the Q before me

Had another looksie and have seen this one ..

Hopefully going to test drive tomorrow night :)

Just noticed this after some last minute research before we go and see it :o
In which case I'd rather not go for it although we can still go and take it for a spin to see how they drive :)

B .. B ... But I might like it :/

It's not a car for speed it's one for comfort :p

LOL !

He's in work , I'm at home :p

Although we do post from the same sofa sometimes :o

Although for £6k you should be able to get a better JDM spec import...

:D

Eww :/

I drove Dexy home from work today and gave a mate a lift home .. he said to me " I bet you're gonna miss this baby " and I am :(

The time has come to be sensible though , it just doesn't make sense having a car like this when she hardly gets used , she needs to go to someone who will ride the biatch a lot more than I do ;)

Also we need our comfort on our trips to Swansea and Dexy's not it - the suspension is so solid she's like a bloody Go Kart ! - Great fun to drive but so not comfy when you're doing a 4/5 hour journey ;)

Lovely car

Chap is going to call me tomorrow with a rough price for mine and as long as it's not too daft I'll arrange for a longer test drive in the daytime - will get a chance to properly look at the exterior as well

The interior was immaculate ( apart from the little gap that Desmo mentioned ) the cream leather didn't have a mark on it and the carpet looked like new

The room in there is amazing !! .. I think even MB could sit in the back and be comfortable !!

I was a little concerned that I would feel a little " lost " behind the wheel given my size but I very quickly got the seat in a comfortable position :)

All in all it will probably cost the same per year to run ( insurance , servicing etc ) but she WILL get used on a regular basis running back and more down the M4 whereas Dexy now only gets used twice a week me going to the Gym and back which is about 5 mins away :p

Me = VERY impressed :cool:
