I'll have it Tuesday. Will post pics and first impressions when it arrives.

Well if you're used to a 5D I can pretty much guarantee the first impression will be "**** me this is heavy!". I know that's what I said going from a D60 to a 1D MkII :)

Good stuff, will be interesting to see how your AF performs on the 1DS, my MKIII performs flawlessly but I have just upgraded the firmware so i'll see this weekend when I take it for a blast.

Yep, I'm ready for this. The thing is when you add big glass to the 5D it's still no lightweight, and I think the heavier body may make the whole camera feel a bit more balanced.

First problem is what to put it in. I have a large Billingham but also a small one from their digital range. Ideal for housing the 5D with lens upto 24-70 F2.8L. I like Billingham but I don't think they do anything similar for 1Ds sized cameras.

Hope you have plenty of storage space on your computer Spie, as those 21MP files are sure going to chew up drivespace. Look forward to seeing what you think of it though.

If your after rucksack style bags, then id reccomend you look at the Lowepro Trekker series. Ive got a Lowpro Pro Trekker which is very sturdy and big.

It does, plus the built in grip gives you more to hold on to.

niceone Spie!

by the way, seeing as you don't need your 5D anymore, why not let me have it ;) :D

<edit>
woo-hoo, its december!

I was just looking at these today! Cant wait to see some real world shots. Could you post up a full sized image as well so I can be amazed at the res?

Would love to get one myself but it's a fair bit of a price jump from a 5D and I thought that was expensive :D

Come on Spie, hows the camera?
Top of the range from Canon, so what do you think? How much better is it than a 5d for a non-pro? Worth the extra dosh?

Been two weeks and no sign..... maybe he is still out there taking pics!!! What is it like for weddings, sports, portraits and landscapes?

Colin

I've seen some pics from this camera and its comparable to medium format.
I'm thinking on getting one next year after a 600 F4 :)
