OCZs Z Drive (R3 P84) is breaking the boundaries of SSD speed. Using a PCIe x8 interface...the SSD is capable of read speeds up to 1000MB/sec (1GB/sec) and write speeds of around 950MB/sec.

At first it sounded too good to be true, but it's shipping very soon. Prices are to be annouced, but I'm guessing on the 1.2TB version being £1500+.

The press release during the week also mentioned drives with 250k 4K Random write IOPS.

From the news statement ... OCZ will also introduce a new full height card that offers even higher performance and up to 250,000 4k random write IOPS.

Wouldn't mind replacing works iSCSI box with two of these :p :D
(not a realistic thought but it would be fun to try, see what happens when 1000 users hammer it at once)
