Family is planning on spending around a grand on a TV in the Jan sales

no rush considering our current tv is a pansonic 30something" big old fat one. Had it for at least 8 year now, though its still good. The tv, video player and surround sound speakers cost like £3000 at the time lol

ANYWAY, will much happen between now and then with TV's do you reckon? Or will it just be the same with 3D pushing itself more? Also would it be worth spending a few £100 more on a 3D TV :S? I know the big TV shopping channel do some for like £1.4k or something like that.

Will be looking probably for a mid 40"

It's too soon for 3D for my money, the initial tech will be rapidly superseeded and I'm still not convinced ov the value in the average living room where most people sit at an angle to the TV anyway.

Don't forget if you wait until January theres the new v.a.t to consider, try pushing the boat out and buy before around christmas time.

VAT isn't much anyway :p Would be like £25.
Not exactly sure when though the VAT is being put up, but would be looking between christmas-new year so.

3D would be annoying anyway because of the glasses.. plus currently its only like sky doing demo channels of it? (we're on virgin media anyway) so i guess the only benefit would be the 120hz?

As for plasma vs lcd or is it led :P? Uhhh /fail ;)

do you want to watch tv with goggles on?

plus i think by next xmas new 3d tvs will be out which make better use of it.

since its so new best give it a year, maybe wait for a 2nd channel too :p
