Surprising how many people give up learning manual and take the easy way out with an auto only license. I saw having an auto only license as a reason to not give up lol

Exactly - even if you only ever want to drive an auto, surely it makes sense to do the proper test just you have the choice in future?

It'll be subjective as to what makes a numpty, I suppose it's debatable if an individual can't get a hang of the clutch ;)

:D It's true, I'm a numpty for that.

With regards to 'giving up' I spent over £500 on lessons over 2.5 years and still couldn't stop at a junction without stalling. Having to pick your daughter up from her mothers by bus is more demeaning. Oh yes, it was time to give up. I was then 'driving' within 2 months.

Probably wasted your money on a crap instructor. I used to stall all the time during lessons, took a few weeks to iron out. I stalled on my test twice but got away with it. Can't remember the last time I stalled but I can hop into anything and not stall it. Go me.

Ahem..4 crap instructors.

what did you struggle with when stopping at a junction? pushing the clutch in? because I assume you didn't struggle with moving off the line so it must be that :o

my gf gets really stressed at her driving lessons and she's been telling me how she wants to stop it all and go automatic and I asked her how many times she stalled in her 2 hour lesson..

ONCE in 2 hours while driving in london? she's only been learning for 10 hours and already wants an auto but I'm trying to keep going at it with a manual.

They say in 10 years you won't even be able to buy a new manual trans car.
My missus passed the auto-only test in the UK (even though she has a foreign license and drove manuals abroad) as she has no intention of ever buying a manual as we both prefer Auto. She has a 9 year old Megane auto. It drives OK, but most pre-2008 French cars have a AL4/DP0 box and they have too many solenoid problems.

Anything Japanese with 12 months MOT.

100% agree.

I have no idea why the majority still buy manual for the roads, auto's are so damn good now.

I even enjoyed driving a 65 plate 1.4 auto Corsa SE!

Best to get a manual licence anyway, you never know when you might need it, but auto once passed, especially in London traffic.

Because good autos cost a chunk of change when getting your new car on PCP and most people wont pay.

The Corsa Auto sounds horrific so perhaps you have lower standards than others.
