Please recommend me some things. Have a budget of £1k to get a decent video camera and digital camera. I don't know where to start!

Camera must have a decent flash. Videocamera must be able to transfer to PC..preferably by firewire (for mac)...USB too if that's possible.

Saw a decent looking Sony camera in the shop the other day...was small, black..and about £600 or so.

Help please! :)

For the video camera try to aim for a 3CCD model, I believe there are several around the £600 mark inc some panasonics which I have heard good things about.

Panasonic GS500 , just got one myself, after reading soooo many reviews i picked it. Very happy with it, can be had for £600 with some DV tapes :)

Panasonic seem to be the best for the money, i believe the GS18 (or something like that) is 3 CCD and can be had for around *** 300 quid mark

I wanted compact so I bought the Canon Ixus 900ti. It does 1024x768 resolution video and it's a 10 megapixwl camera. For £240 (although should be £350) it does the job very well!

I bought a 4gb card for £40 so I can film for over an hour in 1024x768

Went for the Sony DSC H5:

and the Sony HDR HC3:

Should do the job. Just a smidge over 1k and had some free DV tapes chucked in. Can't wait to have a play.
