£1k-ish build list, could I get some feedback?

You can import a 7700 for a hundred quid less from the same place loads of us got cheap 5700x3d's
not wrong, but not everyone wants to take the risk of a part that has no warranty except from what that chinese website provides
(personally have bought 5700x3d and 7700 from there too)

Just when I thought I was out, you pull me back in

Thats definitely worth further review, especially if I tiptoe one step further and keep the original mobo, but then I'll be picking it up so I'll save on delivery, the reasoning is solid for me
personally if £1200 is a hard limit the b850m-x isn't that bad
whilst the VRMs aren't the greatest, it doesn't sound likely that you'd ever run a 230w 9950x, will you? :P
the vrms are fine for a 65w/105w cpu

AM5 boards tend to be a little overbuilt for their purposes tbh, nobody is going to pair a £100-115 entry level board with a higher end productivity CPU, regardless I don't think there's any current B850's off the top of my head that wouldn't handle an 8 core CPU without issue.

I suspect the backlash from AM4 where people were struggling at times with entry level CPU's on some (even more mid range/premium) boards served as a kick up the bum.

I think what's worse is how easy some of the older AM4 boards could have improved things for pennies, even just slapping some heatsinks on the damned VRM's would have went a long way in some cases.

Thanks for the heads up, its a worthwhile consideration but I think I'll stick with OcUK, they've done me well for the last 20 years and being local it's nice to send my business to them when I can

I'm thinking I'll drop the RAM to the 5600, and swap the intel for the 7700. I may keep the existing mobo as the wifi is nice to have as well as the mentioned pci-e5, and I may also push the extra tenner to keep the original PSU as it has a 10 year warranty instead of 5 year.

Think I'll be mulling this over the rest of the evening and possibly a drive down the a500 to collect it tomorrow if I can make a decision

Thanks for all the advice and input, as usual I come with what I think is a not too bad build and get absolutely schooled  Feels like when my lead dev rips me apart in a code review, but at least here I maybe get a new rig out of it haha

you'll be about £50 over budget (or 25% over the original £1k budget  )
